Welcome to the Office of the Academic Registrar (OAR)
at Mount Meru University (MMU)!
The OAR
upholds the mission of MMU by serving as an educational support unit
to the University’s departments and clientele in an
accessible,
prompt,
consistent,
accurate
and friendly manner.
Functions of this office include:
1.
Handling of applications for admission including coordination of
admissions and enrollment in the University’s undergraduate
programs.
2.
Handling undergraduate student initial registration including
issuance of registration numbers and identity cards; and subsequent
course registration for each semester.
3.
Managing undergraduate student academic
records including grade recording as well as ensuring
confidential storage of these
records.
4.
Providing quick, accurate, and personalized action on requests for
transcripts, letters of certification and verification, and other
appropriate requests for information on undergraduate students and
alumni.
5.
Evaluating degree and diploma requirements for graduation
candidates.
6.
Preparing students’ academic transcripts; ordering and coordinating
the processing of degree and diploma parchments.
7.
Coordinating graduation applications, graduation attendance and
distributing degree and diploma parchments.

Bachelor’s degree program: 3 (three) years; Diploma program: 2 (two)

Admission Requirements
The following are the minimum requirements for admission into
the Bachelor’s degree and Diploma programs at the MMU:
Bachelor’s Programs
Direct
Entry
At least two
principal passes at the ‘A’ level secondary school education
examination with a total of not less than 4.5 points whereby, A=5,
B=4, C=3, D=2, E=1, S=0.5 and F=0.
Equivalent
Entry
-
At least three credits or five passes in approved
subjects including English Language at the “O” level secondary
school education examination; and
-
A relevant accredited diploma of not less than second class, or
credit or average of “B” grade.
Diploma Programs
Direct Entry
-
At least three credits or five passes in approved
subjects including English Language at the “O” level Certificate
of Secondary Education; and
-
At least one good principal pass and two subsidiaries in
appropriate subjects at the ‘A’ level secondary school education
examination with a total of not less than 3.5 points whereby,
A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, E=1, S=0.5 and F=0.
Equivalent Entry
-
At least three credits or five passes in approved
subjects including English Language at the “O” level secondary
school education examination; and
-
A certificate relevant to the program applied for with a minimum
Grade Point Average of 3.0, or its equivalent.
Application
Procedure
-
Applicants
for admission into Bachelor’s degree programs under the direct
entry scheme must lodge their applications to the Tanzania
Commission for Universities (TCU) by the deadlines as announced
by TCU.
-
Applicants
for admission into Bachelor’s programs under equivalent entry
scheme and all Diploma programs must lodge their applications
directly to the Office of the Academic Registrar at MMU by May
31 of the year of intended entry.
