Welcome to the
Office of the Academic Registrar (OAR) at Mount Meru University
(MMU)!
The OAR upholds the mission of MMU by serving as an educational
support unit to the University’s departments and clientele in an
accessible, prompt, consistent, accurate and friendly manner.
Functions of this office include:
1. Handling of applications for admission including coordination of
admissions and enrollment in the University’s undergraduate
programs.
2. Handling undergraduate student initial registration including
issuance of registration numbers and identity cards; and subsequent
course registration for each semester.
3. Managing undergraduate student academic records including grade
recording as well as ensuring confidential storage of these records.
4. Providing quick, accurate, and personalized action on requests
for transcripts, letters of certification and verification, and
other appropriate requests for information on undergraduate students
and alumni.
5. Evaluating degree and diploma requirements for graduation
candidates.
6. Preparing students’ academic transcripts; ordering and
coordinating the processing of degrees and diplomas.
7. Coordinating graduation applications, graduation attendance and
distributing degrees and diplomas.
8. Regularization of international students’ immigration status by
obtaining Tanzania residence permits on their behalf.

Entry Requirements
The following are the minimum requirements for admission into
the Bachelor’s degree and Diploma programs at the MMU:

Direct Entry Scheme:

At least three credits or five passes in
approved subjects including English Language at the ‘O’
level secondary school education examination.

At least two principal passes at the ‘A’ level
secondary school education examination with a total of not
less than 4.5 points whereby, A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, E=1, S=0.5
and F=0.
Note:
Applicants with 3.5 – 4.0 points at the ‘A’ level secondary
school education examination must first successfully attend
the MMU’s Pre-University Program to be considered for
selection.
Equivalent Entry Scheme:
-
At least three credits or five passes in
approved subjects including English Language at the ‘O’
level secondary school education examination.

A relevant accredited diploma of not less than second class
or average of “B” grade.
Special Requirements for BEd (Economics & Accountancy)
Applicants who wish to pursue the Bachelor of Education
(Economics & Accountancy) program must have passed Economics
with a “C” or above grade at the ‘O’ level secondary school
education examination; and “D” or above at the ‘A’ level
secondary school education examination. Applicants already
in possession of diploma award must have taken Economics as
a core subject at Diploma level. |

At least one good principal pass and two subsidiaries
in appropriate subject at the ‘A’ level secondary school
education examination with a total of not less than 3.5
points whereby, A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, E=1, S=0.5 and F=0.

approved subjects including English Language at the ‘O’
level secondary school education examination.

A certificate in the relevant program applied for with a
minimum Grade Point Average of 3.0, or its equivalent.
Mature Age Entry Scheme:
-
Have either obtained at least two credits in approved
subjects including English Language at the ‘O’ level
secondary school education examination or attended Form IV
at least three years before the year in which admission is
sought.
-
Have attended extra mural classes or residential courses at
a recognized institution.
-
Be 25years of age or older.
-
Sit and pass the MMU Mature Age Entry Examination. |
